Cocktails, couture and catwalk at Cayenne Lounge

Cayenne Lounge in Bukoto is quickly becoming the venue of choice for fashion events within Kampala.

The latest being lined up is the Cocktails, Couture and Catwalk fashion show happening on March 3 (Thursday night). The event is being organized by Amarachi Events. According to the organisers, it will bring together lovers of fashion but also have something for people not fully interested in the action on the runway but just want to have a good time.

“I have always been very passionate about couture and high-end clothing, especially for women. It is like art for clothes. So I decided to combine that with drinks that will match the mood to make it more fun,” says Grace Nafuna, the brains behind the event. This will eventually become a platform not only for established but also upcoming fashion designers. Grace is a fashion contributor at The New Vision, a fashion blogger and budding fashion designer.

Four fashion designers are expected to showcase their latest collections. So far, Lauma Lingerie has confirmed participation, with designers Raphael Kasule (K-Rafael) and Brenda Maraka also in the pipeline. Fifteen models have been cast to showcase the creations. Already teasers are appearing online, depicting lingerie from Lauma. Photos from the Lauma Lingerie photo-shoot are already making rounds on social media drumming up the vibe for the event. Dress code is ‘classy and elegant’.  Paramour Cosmetics, Darling, Events Guru Photography, Urban TV and Lauma Lingerie have supported the show. Uganda’s number one fashion blog – is also handling media and social media presence.

There will be performances by big-name Kampala DJs and a live band. The event starts at 7pm and will go on up to 11pm, since the plan is to wind up by midnight and just have a good time.

Tickets will cost Shs 30,000 and Shs 50,000 for VIP, which comes with a free cocktail.
