Miss Uganda 2015 finale is on tonight

When I asked Leah Kalanguka, the outgoing Miss Uganda, about her reign, all she could say was, “What a journey it has been!”

All good things come to an end and this evening Kalanguka will be giving up her crown to another beauty queen at Kampala Serena hotel where the Miss Uganda 2015/16 will be crowned.

Brenda Nanyonjo the CEO of the Miss Uganda franchise confirmed that everything is in place and all that is left is for the guests to show up. “Preparation wise we are all set. The girls have gone through all the necessary training and everything will be based on merit,” she said.

As usual, her team has done a good job of being tight lipped about the judges of the show so that there are fewer chances of malpractices.

However, they couldn’t be tight lipped about who will be performing. Comedian Alex Muhangi will emcee the show and Grace Nakimera will be the headline performer.

On the contestants, the most talk is about Aisha Nabukera, and already many have gone on social media to say she should be crowned the winner because of her courage after surviving a fire allegedly started by her stepmother deliberately when she was nine, and which left her badly scarred.

Mirinda, the title sponsors of the pageant, have promised various goodies for the first and second runner up. The winner will walk away with a brand new Toyota Spacio.

Entrance to the show is Shs 70,000 while VIP is Shs 150,000.
