Ronald Waiswa eyeing international runways for 2018

Ronald Waiswa has his eyes on the international runway for 2018. The past two years have been awesome for newcomer Ronald Waiswa aka Ronnie Volts. This year particular has seen him getting booked by most designers at any show he has been cast. During the recently concluded Swahili Fashion Week (SFW) in Dar es Salaam Ronnie walked for 13 designers. Apparently he would have got more but the time limits could not make it possible. Such a hot cake on the runway! He showcased designs by the likes of Chuwa, Samuel Zebedayo, Kahvarah, Martha Jabo, Africa Sana, Del Africa fashion and Kai’s Divo collection among others. Before leaving for Dar he had achieved the same fete at Kampala Fashion Week 2017. Only last year he made his debut at SFW and walked away with the accolade for East African Model Of The Year (2016). The same year he was crowned Ugandan Model Of The Year (male) at Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards (ASFAs). The 6’3” tall basketball player got his big break at the 2015 ASFAs after not making the cut for Kampala Fashion Week 2014. He has walked multiple shows since then including eleven in 2016 and seven in 2017 thanks to being signed to Joram Model Management.

At the 2017 edition of ASFAs he walked for Sheria Ngowi, David Tlale, Alecool, Mai Atafo and Sheila Pemba of PSK. Ronald has ended the year with three more accolades in his wardrobe with two won at the Pearl of Africa Fashion Awards and one from the Uganda Entertainment Awards as the most outstanding male model. That is five awards in two years!

“My focus is for international signing and international shows for 2018,” he told this blog. He hopes to feature at South African Menswear Week,Men’s Fashion Week Nigeria  and The Hub of Africa Fashion Week held in Addis Ababa.
