Fort Portal town, at the foothills of the beautiful Rwenzori Mountains, is going to be very busy this weekend. Not only is it hosting a leg of in a motor rally (Mountains Of The Moon Rally), but also the face of the region’s Miss Tourism will be crowned. The pageant takes place on Saturday evening at Mountains Of The Moon hotel. Entrance will be Shs 10,000, general, and Shs 30,000 for VIP.
Sheebah Karungi will be the guest performer at the event. Last year’s representative did not qualify for the final stage so the organisers have their work cut out as stakes are high this year. The finals take place on August 28, 2015 at Kampala Serena Hotel.
However, not all eyes will be on Tooro. The Ankole tourism cluster also wants in on the weekend’s action. Their representative will be crowned on Saturday evening at Lake View hotel, Mbarara.
Tickets will cost Shs 5,000 (students), Shs 10,000 (ordinary) and Shs 20,000 (VIP). Ankole has lined up nine contestants in what is billed to be the tightest showdown since the regional tours kicked off. The night’s winner here has many chances to make it to the finale or even take the crown.
One needs to watch out for number four, Jaylor Birungi, who was a finalist in Miss Uganda 2013, and has a lot of experience, having worked with Miss Uganda Foundation.
